Coldplay get their first of four Croke Park concerts underway on Thursday as the band closes the European leg of their Music of the Spheres World Tour.

Chris Martin surprised Irish fans on Wednesday with a performance on Grafton Street, while recording a music video for the band’s latest single, We Pray.

Coldplay will play four dates in Croke Park over the coming days: Thursday, August 29th, Friday, August 30th, Sunday, September 1st, and Monday, September 2nd.

Tickets are sold out for all four days, but fans are advised to keep an eye on resale on Ticketmaster.

Gates open at 5pm with no early queuing permitted. The show will start with the first support act at 6.30pm. A second support act will take to the stage at 7.15pm before Coldplay at 8.30pm.

The first support act is Dublin singer Aby Coulibaly, followed by American singer-songwriter Maggie Rogers, whose latest album, Don’t Forget Me, was released earlier this year.

Security checks will be in operation and fans are advised not bring a bag unless it is necessary.

Bags larger than A4, glass or cans, umbrellas, alcohol, garden furniture, selfie sticks, flares, professional cameras and audio recording equipment will not be permitted.

Coldplay have several albums and are likely to play well known songs such as Paradise, The Scientist, Viva La Vida, Charlie Brown, Yellow, Fix You, Clocks, A Sky Full Of Stars, and Hymn for the Weekend, among others.

For transport, the bus, Dart and Luas will bring you to walking distance of Croke Park.

Once you get to the venue, follow the colour route on your ticket. For people on the Blue route, enter via Jones Road and Russell Street.

For the Red route (Cusack Stand), enter via St James Avenue and Foster Terrace.

For those in the Yellow route (Davin Stand), enter via St Margaret’s Terrace.

To get to the Green route (front pitch standing), enter via Josephs Avenue.

To enter the Red route (Front and main pitch standing), go through St James Avenue and Foster Terrace.
