Angela Scanlon has said she “loved every second” of her Strictly Come Dancing debut as she praised her fellow contestants.

The Co Meath-born presenter, 39, was one of the 15 famous faces who took to the dancefloor with their professional partners for the first time on Saturday night.

Scanlon strutted her way to a score of 23 but admitted she was “so nervous” ahead of her tango that she nearly forgot how to speak.

On Sunday, the Irish TV star shared a series of photos on Instagram of her and her dance partner Carlos Gu performing on the night as well as her posing in a fuchsia pink gown.

Alongside the post, she wrote: “Week one DONE!!! I’ve just had a fry up and a very small lie in. My head is reeling & I’m not quite sure what the hell happened.

“What a night. Everyone was incredible. I literally forgot how to speak I was so nervous/stunned, so far out of my comfort zone, so exposed, so ladylike.

“But I loved every second of it & thank you ALL for the messages and comments on our TANGO!!”

“When I heard we were doing it I almost vomited but actually I kind of loved being fierce & moody & fiery.”

Scanlon also hailed her dance partner as “one in a million”.

“Thank you so much to my dreamboat @gkx_carlos for being patient & kind & making me laugh without actually trying”, she added.

The presenter revealed that on Monday she will have to unlearn everything as they take on a “totally different” dance, teasing that it would be a “gear change” from the tango.

Chinese dancer Gu also returned the praise to Scanlon, commenting: “Loved every second with you, you are gold and can’t wait for more to come.”

None of the contestants will go home this weekend, instead their scores will be carried over to week two when the first dance off will be held after the couples perform a second time.

Scanlon hosts BBC Two’s Your Home Made Perfect and is the only woman in the UK and Ireland to have their own Saturday night chat show with Ask Me Anything on RTÉ One.
