Junior Minister and Meath East Fianna Fáil TD Mary Wallace has announced she will not contest the next General Election.

Junior Minister and Meath East Fianna Fáil TD Mary Wallace has announced she will not contest the next General Election.

Deputy Wallace said she is "relieved" to have made the decision and is looking forward to a new chapter in her life.

The Taoiseach Brian Cowen has paid tribute describing her as a loyal and hard working representative during her career.

It brings to 24 the number of sitting TD's not contesting the election - 12 from Fianna Fáil alone.
