Former US president, and current Republican candidate, Donald Trump is set to visit Ireland within the next year.

In an interview with the Sunday Independent, Eric Trump said his father would visit Ireland regardless of the outcome of the November US presidential election.

The Trumps own Trump International Golf Links & Hotel in Doonbeg, Co Clare, and Eric is set to make his next trip to the club this week.

Eric Trump told the Sunday Independent: “My dad loves Ireland. It’s very easy for a president to pop in for 15 minutes, wave to the masses and leave. This is a guy and a family that has put mill­ions of dollars of our money into your economy. I guarantee you he is going to be back in Ireland in the next year.

“I am personally going to bring him over there. He adores Doonbeg. One of the greatest moments of my life was five years ago when we took off in Marine One from Doonbeg. We flew to Shannon, hopped on a plane, flew into Nice and then into Normandy and we landed on the beach of Normandy for the 75th anniversary of the invasion.”

Trump's second son also spoke about the assassination attempt on his father, the former president's hardline stance on immigration and Democratic candidate Kamala Harris in a wide-ranging interview.
