A Garda was assaulted after stopping a stolen car in Dublin city centre on Thursday evening, with two people fleeing the scene.
A woman, aged in her 30s, was arrested following the incident while the second person remains at large.
At approximately 8.45 pm, while conducting active patrols in the Basin Street area of Dublin 8, gardaí initiated a vehicle stop and "engaged with two individuals".
During this encounter, the driver of the vehicle assaulted one of the gardaí. Subsequently, both occupants of the car fled the scene on foot.
The car, which had been reported stolen earlier this month in the Dublin area, was recovered and removed from the scene for forensic and technical examination.
Following the incident, a female in her 30s was arrested by investigating gardaí. She is currently detained for an offence contrary to Section 3 of the Criminal Justice Non- Fatal Offences Against the Person Act, 1991, at a city centre garda station.
The injured Garda, a male in his 20s stationed at Kilmainham Station, received necessary medical attention. His injuries are not life-threatening. Garda welfare services have been made available and activated.
The investigation is ongoing, gardaí said, with no further information available.
