There are 395 patients waiting for beds at the country's hospitals on Friday morning, according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO).
There are 271 people waiting in emergency departments, while 124 are in wards elsewhere in the hospital.

Figures from the INMO show University Hospital Limerick has the highest number waiting for a bed at 113.
That is 28 per cent out of the overall figure of 395 people on trolleys.
The Mater Hospital in Dublin has the next highest number of people waiting for beds with 46, followed by Cork University Hospital with 34 people on trolleys.
