The latest figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO) show there are 510 people waiting for beds in Irish hospitals.
Some 364 patients are waiting in the emergency department, while 146 are in wards elsewhere in the hospital.

The hospital with the highest number of patients on trolleys is University Hospital Limerick, with 86 patients waiting for a bed.
45 people are in the emergency department, and 41 patients are elsewhere in the hospital.
Cork University Hospital has 69 patients waiting for a bed, with 58 of those in the emergency department.
51 people are waiting for beds in University Hospital Galway, with 37 patients in the emergency department.
