The seasonally adjusted total for the same period was 226,600 which is an increase of almost 13,000 on June.
The data also shows that 274,578 people were in receipt of the Pandemic Unemployment Payment for the last week in July, a drop of 37.4% on the previous month, while 447,639 people were on the Temporary Wage Subsidy Scheme, up 14.1%.
Of the people receiving the Pandemic Unemployment Payment, almost one quarter were between 25 and 34 (22.7%) and a further 22.5% were between 35 and 44.
The figures also show 703,181 people have received at least one payment under the scheme since it was established in March.
The CSO also announced that the Census of Agriculture for 2020 will be collected in September having been postponed in June due to the pandemic.
About 140,000 farms will receive the questionnaire in the first week of September.
