CervicalCheck campaigner Lynsey Bennett has left for Mexico to undergo immunotherapy treatment.
The 32-year-old, a mother of two, last week settled her court action over the alleged misinterpretation of her cervical smear slides. She sobbed as a letter of regret was read out in the High Court on Wednesday from the head of the CervicalCheck national screening programme.
Ms Bennett posted a picture of herself on a plane waiting to take off for Mexico today.
She wrote: “Thank you to everyone who has made this possible, I’m so grateful. Giving me a chance at life, lots of love.”

Last September Ms Bennett was told her cancer had spread significantly and was now incurable.
Speaking on Friday's Late Late Show, she said: “I felt guilty that I had the girls and now I'm putting them through this.”
Speaking about her daughters, Ms Bennett said she had always endeavoured to be honest with them, throughout her diagnosis and treatment.
“I never ever said to them 'Mammy is going to get better', because I didn't know. Kids just know that it's a sickness.”
Her two girls, Zoe and Hayley, assured her they thought everything will be okay because she is a “warrior”.
Cervical cancer campaigner Vicky Phelan, who was central in uncovering the CervicalCheck controversy, wrote a message of support to Ms Bennett.
Ms Phelan, who is currently undergoing treament in the United States, wrote: “Wishing Lynsey all the very best as she heads to Mexico tomorrow for treatment. I will be sending positive energy her way all the way from the USA.”
