Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision near Tullamore, Co. Offaly, on Thursday morning.

Emergency services were alerted to a single-vehicle collision, involving a car, on the L2007 (Rahan Road) at Ballykeenaghan at approximately 9:00am.

The driver of the car, a man aged in his 40s, was seriously injured. He was conveyed to Midlands Regional Hospital, Tullamore, where he remains in a serious condition.

There were no other occupants of the vehicle or injuries reported.

A technical examination of the scene has been conducted by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and the road has since reopened to traffic.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 8:15am and 9:15am are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.
