A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal road traffic collision in Dublin.
The collision involving a car and a pedestrian occurred at the junction of Fortunestown Way and Cheeverstown Road (R136) shortly before 11am on Friday.
A woman in her 80s was pronounced dead at the scene.
Gardaí said the car involved in the collision initially failed to remain at the scene, but was later recovered.
In an update on Saturday evening, Gardaí confirmed a man in his 40s has since been arrested under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
He is currently detained at a Garda station in the South Dublin area.
Investigators are continuing to appeal for information in relation to the incident, with anyone who was in the area on Friday morning between 10.30am and 11.15am asked to come forward, as well as anyone with camera (dash-cam) footage.
