A man has been arrested in Dublin following an alleged car hijacking on Saturday.
Gardaí are investigating the incident which took place at around 9pm on the R136 at Grange Castle Road in Clondalking.
Officers received reports of a man attempting to hijack a car, but he was unsuccessful.
He then approached a second car, removed the owner, and drove away from the scene, gardaí said.
A managed containment operation involving the Garda Armed Support Unit and local gardaí was initiated, and the car was intercepted on the Katherine Tynan Road in Tallaght a short time later.
The man, aged in his 30s, was arrested and has been detained under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
He has since been charged and is expected to appear before Blanchardstown District Court Monday morning.
Gardaí are appealing for anyone who was in the Grange Castle Road area of Clondalkin around the time of the incident, including those with camera/dash cam footage, to come forward.
Those with information are asked to contact Clondalkin Garda station on 01-666 7600, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666 111, or any Garda station.
