The victim was struck a second time before the two suspects left the scene. The injured man was taken to Cork University Hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

After the incident was reported to gardaí, members of the Serious Crime Units at Togher, Bishopstown and Douglas Garda Stations, with the assistance of the Armed Support Unit, carried out searches at two properties in Cork city on Saturday, but no arrests were made.

The injured man informed gardaí he was using the 'find my phone' app, which allowed gardaí to trace the phone to a property on Brian Boru Street where the mobiles were found with €6,300 worth of suspected cocaine.

A man in his late teens was arrested at the scene before being taken to Togher Garda Station where he was charged. He is due to appear before Cork City District Court today.

An investigation is still ongoing with enquiries continuing in relation to the second man involved in the robbery and assault.
