A man has died in a road collision between an e-scooter and a van in Co Sligo.
The incident took place at 8.10pm on Wednesday night in the townland of Rusheen, Riverstown.
The man (50s) was travelling on the e-scooter when he was hit by the van. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the van, who is aged in his 30s, is being treated for minor injuries at Sligo University Hospital.
The L1303 road is currently closed while a forensic collision investigation is carried out.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.
The incident means the number of people killed on Irish roads this year has already matched the 2022 death toll.
A total of 155 people have died in road collisions – up 36 on the same time last year.
A high visibility road safety campaign will take place this October bank holiday weekend.
