A man aged in his 70s died in a workplace accident in Co Carlow on Monday.
Emergency services were called to a premises close to the town of Tullow however the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
His body was taken to University Hospital Waterford (UHW) where a post mortem examination will be carried out in due course.
The coroner’s office has been notified, and a file will be prepared for the court.
The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) also attended the scene and are carrying out an investigation which is part of protocol.
In a statement gardaí confirmed that they and emergency services were “alerted to a fatal workplace accident at a premises near Tullow, Co Carlow” on Monday morning.
Gardaí continued: “A male in his 70s was pronounced deceased at the scene. His body has been removed to the mortuary in University Hospital Waterford, where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.
“The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) were notified and attended the scene.
“A file will be prepared for the Coroner's Court”.
