A teenage boy has died after being hit by a lorry in Cork city this afternoon.
The incident happened on Sheares Street at around 3.30pm.
He was taken to the Mercy Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The driver of the lorry was uninjured.
This is the second road fatality in the Republic today after a man was killed in a separate incident in Co Kilkenny earlier today.
The man in his 40s was killed in a single car collision on the N76 at Killamery at around 11am this morning.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body has been taken to Waterford Regional Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
The road is currently closed for technical examination.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dash-cam footage to come forward.
