A man aged in his 30s who was removed by air ambulance to the Mater Hospital in Dublin to be treated for injuries remains in a serious condition as gardaí continue to investigate an alleged incident of violent disorder in Co Longford.

Two people are due to appear before Athlone District Court on Friday in relation to the alleged incident, which occurred in Deanscurragh, Co Longford on Thursday.

Searches were carried out at three residential properties and three people were subsequently arrested and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda station in the North Western Region.

A male and a female (both aged in their 20s) were subsequently charged and are due to appear before Athlone District Court.

A second female (20s) was charged and is due to appear before Longford District Court at a later date.

Investigations are ongoing.
