A man who stripped naked in the centre of a Co Donegal town and "shook his genitalia" towards members of the public has appeared in court.

The bizarre incident happened in Letterkenny on May 5th last.

The man, who is in his 30s, cannot be named at this stage of the court proceedings.

He was charged with a number of offences when he appeared at Letterkenny District Court.

He was charged that he did at Castle Street in Letterkenny, commit an act contrary to public decency, to wit removing all of his clothing, exposing his genitalia to members of the public, before grabbing his genitalia and shaking it in a lewd manner towards same members of the public, causing them distress.

The charge is Contrary to Section 5 Summary Jurisdiction (IR) Amendment Act, 1871.

The man, who has an address in Letterkenny, was also charged with a number of related offences on the night in question.

He is charged with failing to provide his name and address to gardaí and being drunk and disorderly.

He was also charged with assaulting a man at Castle Street in Letterkenny.

The accused is also charged with damaging a door of the Brewery Bar at Market Square in Letterkenny on the same night.

The accused did not speak during the brief appearance.

Judge Eiteain Cunningham adjourned the case back to February 10th, 2025.
