Storm Babet will bring heavy rain and “blustery” winds to Ireland on Tuesday and Wednesday as Met Éireann issued new alerts across the country.
A status-orange rain warning is already in place for Cork, Kerry and Waterford, lasting until 1pm on Wednesday.
New status-yellow warnings for heavy rain and strong winds have come into effect for Leinster, Cavan, Donegal and Monaghan until 8pm on Wednesday. A similar warning for Connacht and the rest of Munster will last until 6pm on Wednesday.
Met Éireann said heavy and at times thundery rain will bring a risk of flooding, poor visibility and difficult driving conditions.
Heavy rain is expected on Tuesday & Wednesday in places, especially across southern parts, ahead of #StormBabet ⚠️☔️

The forecaster also warned of a risk of wave overtopping at high tide along the southern coast.
Met Eireann meteorologist Brandon Creagh said: "A series of warm fronts, ahead of a low-pressure system are approaching the country, bringing heavy and persistent rain to the south of the country, and extending northwards through Tuesday into Wednesday with localised flooding likely.
"Along with the rain, southeasterly winds will strengthen, reaching gale force along southern and eastern coasts, bringing the possibility of wave overtopping at high tide on Tuesday evening. Driving conditions will be difficult due to the combined effects of heavy rain, strong winds and poor visibility."
Meanwhile, the UK Met Office has issued a status-yellow rain warning for all Northern counties from 2pm on Wednesday until 10am on Thursday.
“Storm Babet will bring some heavy rain to Northern Ireland from Wednesday afternoon to Thursday morning, with possible disruption,” it said.
The weather will stay unsettled for the rest of the week with rain and showers every day, Met Éireann said. It is likely to stay unsettled for the weekend and into next week with further spells of rain and showers.
