Mark Deely, brother of Trevor who has been missing since December 2000, has described ongoing public interest in the case as a massive comfort for the family.

While they had been taken aback at the interest, it was of comfort as one of the biggest fears of the family was that the case would be forgotten.

“We need everybody's help to find Trevor. And we can't do this. The guards can't do this unless people are still talking about him.”

His brother Mark Deely said every development in the case was important in its own right, he told RTE radio’s Today with Claire Byrne show.

“You can get sidetracked on speculation. And in a way, it's great to have it cleared up, but also it's slightly frustrating as well.

As a family, all they could do was to keep asking questions. “We need to find out what happened, and we need to find out where he is. And we just need as much information as we can get possible.”

Technology was moving on, which they hoped would bring answers in time. “But God, it can get so frustrating sometimes. But we feel we're so close to getting the answers we need. And then it seems to get the rug pulled out of you and it's like, start all over again.”
