Irish author Sally Rooney is set to publish a new novel this year, following on from the global success of her most recent work Normal People.
The third novel penned by Rooney is titled Beautiful World, Where Are You and will be published by Faber on September 7th, 2021.
The novel tells the story of Alice and Eileen – two best friends nearing their thirties “in different places and on very different trajectories.”
“As the summer approaches, they exchange emails about art, friendship, the world around them and the complicated love affairs unfolding in their own lives,” the book’s publisher said.
“They say they want to see each other again soon. But what will happen when they do?”

Publisher Alex Bowler described the new novel as “a book of friendship and sex, art and faith, power and love.”
“It absorbs you once again in the inner lives of characters with brilliant minds and aching hearts, while marking the next creative leap from a singular writer,” he said.
Rooney is the author of two international bestsellers, Normal People and her debut novel Conversations with Friends.
In 2018, Normal People won the Costa Novel Award, the An Post Irish Novel of the Year and was also longlisted for the Booker Prize.
The novel spawned an Emmy-nominated television adaption starring Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones as main characters Connell and Marianne, with filming taking place in Dublin and Co Sligo.
Rooney was the editor of literary magazine the Stinging Fly in 2018 and a Cullman Centre Fellow at the New York Public Library from 2019 to 2020.
Faber will publish Beautiful World, Where Are You in hardback (£16.99, €19.02), export trade paperback (£13.99, €15.66), ebook and audio.
