Three men have been arrested following a search operation involving more than 60 gardaí in North Cork.
Gardaí in Mallow and Charleville co-ordinated a search operation under a warrant on Wednesday, leading to the seizure of three firearms and ammunition.
The Irish Examiner reports, these will be subject to further analysis by the ballistics section of the Garda Technical Bureau, a Garda spokesperson said.
Three men, aged in their 60s, 30s and 20s, were arrested and detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939.
They are being held at a Garda station in the Southern Region.
A revolver was recovered during the searches in North Cork on Wednesday, October 2nd.
The operation involved members from the Armed Support Unit, the Air Support Unit, Cork County Serious Crime Unit, Limerick County Serious Crime Unit and the Divisional Search Unit.
Members from the Cork North West Community Engagement area and personnel from the Dog Unit and the Scenes of Crime Unit also assisted with searches.
"Investigations are ongoing," a Garda spokesperson said.
