Three people have been rescued from a yacht two miles off the Dublin coast.

The propellor of their 35ft (10m) vessel became jammed at approximately 10.20am this morning

Lifeboat crew towed the yacht to Dún Laoghaire Harbour. Weather conditions at the time were describes as good with a slight wind and good visibility.

Speaking following the call out, Mark McGibney, Dún Laoghaire RNLI lifeboat Coxswain said: "This can happen to anyone but it’s great to see the people involved wearing lifejackets and have the correct means of communication to call the Irish Coast Guard for help, which was the case today.

"I’d like to take this opportunity to ask everyone to make sure that their vessel engines and safety equipment are checked and in working order before taking to the water."
