The latest figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO) show there is 700 people waiting for a bed in Irish hospitals on Tuesday.

444 patients are waiting in the emergency department, while 256 are in wards elsewhere in the hospital.

The hospital with the highest number of patients on trolleys is University Hospital Limerick, with 102 people waiting for a bed.

41 people are in the emergency department, with 61 people elsewhere in the hospital.

At Cork University Hospital, there is 70 people waiting for a bed. 64 patients are in the emergency department.

In University Hospital Galway, there is 58 people on trolleys.
