Two people have been killed in separate road crashes overnight, gardai have said.
A woman died in a road crash in Co Louth in the early hours of Monday morning.
The woman, aged in her 20s, was a passenger in a van which crashed into a tree in Carnalogue shortly before 2am.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second passenger, a man in his 20s, is being treated at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda for injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening.
No other injuries were reported.
The woman’s body remained at the scene on Monday morning.
The road has been closed while a technical examination is carried out by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are currently in place.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.
Meanwhile, a man died following a single-vehicle crash in Co Mayo.
The man, aged in his 40s, died at the scene after the car he was driving crashed on the N17 at Lisduff in Claremorris.
The road was closed last night, and gardaí say that the N17 between Ballindine and Claremorris will not reopen this morning while a forensic operation is carried out.
