A woman in her thirties is being treated at Cork University Hospital for life-threatening injuries after her car was involved in a head-on collision with another vehicle on Wednesday morning on the N28.
The collision occurred at Carr’s Hill in the suburbs of Cork city at around 10am. Gardaí, the National Ambulance Service and units of the fire brigade attended the scene.
The area where the crash occurred was preserved for a technical examination and diversions were put in place.
Meanwhile, separately, a woman has been taken to hospital following a single vehicle crash on the N59 between Mulroney and Ballycroy in Co Mayo.
The accident occurred shortly after 8am on Wednesday. The woman was transferred to Castlebar Hospital where she was treated for minor injuries.
Both accidents are under investigation.
