The death of Iran's president, warnings to insurance providers, and a report on rents are some of the stories covered on the front pages of the national newspapers.

The Irish Times reports on the death of Iranian president Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash on Sunday.

The Irish Examiner's main headline reads: '6% of drug offenders face 10 years', reporting the vast majority of those caught with large quantities of drugs are not given the minimum sentence.

Meanwhile, The Echo reports on the latest report from Daft.ie, which found rents in Cork has risen to an average of €1,900 per month.

The Irish Independent leads with a warning to insurers from the office of the Minister of State at the Department of Finance, Neale Richmond, telling them to 'pass on savings to consumers and businesses'.

The Irish Daily Mail also covers the Daft.ie report, adding: 'Rents now take more than half of average salaries'.

Finally, the Irish Daily Mirror reports the nephew of Gerry 'The Monk' Hutch, Eddie Hutch Jnr, has died, while the Irish Daily Star welcomes the return of the Dublin-New York portal.

In Britain, the papers are led by the conclusion of the UK's Infected Blood Inquiry.

The Telegraph, Daily Mail and Daily Express report UK prime minister Rishi Sunak is due to apologise to victims of the infected blood scandal, in which people were infected with contaminated blood and blood products between the 1970s and 1990s, following decades of work by campaigners.

“Blood on their hands”, is the headline on the front of the Daily Mirror.

Elsewhere, The Guardian leads with fears the Iranian president is dead following a helicopter crash in north-western Iran.

Labour plan to “simplify” the process involved with changing gender, according to The Times.

The Financial Times reports Washington’s G7 allies are “warming” to a US plan to rush through aid to Ukraine ahead of a potential Donald Trump presidency.

The i leads with Mr Sunak unveiling a “revolutionary” AI trial which could offer breast cancer hope for millions of people on the NHS.

Metro says celebrity chef Heston Blumenthal has revealed he has been diagnosed as bipolar.

And the Daily Star says warm weather is on the way for half-term holidays.
