The arrest of senior Kinahan cartel member Sean McGovern in Dubai on Thursday and ongoing unrest in the Middle East putting peacekeepers at risk dominates Ireland's front pages on Friday.

The Irish Times leads with the Taoiseach condemning attacks on UN troops in Lebanon by Israel, a story about the arrest of key Kinahan cartel member Sean McGovern, and a story about the Government spending more than €900,000 on external consultants involved in reviews into governance at RTÉ.

The Irish Examiner leads with a story about Israel firing on UN peacekeepers in Lebanon, alongside a story on Daniel Kinahan being next on the list for gardaí, alongside stories on a pacemaker patient feeling like she was being 'ripped open' during the procedure, people being urged to report vaccine reactions, and tackling wastewater.

The Irish Independent leads with a story about the UN's exit plan for Irish troops in Lebanon.

The Echo leads with a story about senior garda management being urged to reconsider a policy which will mean community policing gardaí would be unavailable for community policing duties in Cork on Sundays.

The Irish Daily Mirror leads with a story about an 11-year-old girl who lost her eye after being hit by battery acid from an exploding vape in Fortunestown, Tallaght.

The Irish Daily Mail, The Herald, and the Irish Daily Star all lead with stories about Garda Commissioner Drew Harris's comments on Thursday after the detention of senior Kinahan cartel member Sean McGovern in the UAE.

British Newspapers

The goings-on of Westminster once again feature heavily across the UK's newspapers, with headlines on Labour leading the charge.

As the 100th day of the new UK Government fast approaches, the focus of the Financial Times, the UK Daily Mail, and The UK Independent are all the same: Tax hikes on the horizon.

While the Daily Express splashes on those already feeling the pinch after the Government cut the winter fuel payment for pensioners across the UK.

The UK Times leads on plans to drum up more funds to help boost Britain once again, with a headline that reads: “Workers bill set to help unions raise Labour cash.”

On the topic of health, the Daily Telegraph reports that private hospitals across the UK will come to the rescue of the NHS.

Moving away from British politics, the UK Daily Mirror and The Sun instead focus on a royal update as the Princess of Wales appears to be very much on the mend.

Looking abroad, The Guardian leads on claims of intentional attacks by Israeli forces on UN peacekeepers in Lebanon, sparking fresh accusations of breaches of international law.

The Metro kept it simple, with a headline on Hurricane Milton that says: “Phew!”

And, lastly, the UK Daily Star splashes with a piece on Only Fools and Horses star David Jason, who has backed the newspaper’s campaign to preserve the classic British put-down.
