A yellow wind warning has been issued for three counties.
Mayo, Galway and Clare will be placed under the alert from 10am to 4pm on Friday.
The forecaster said there will be "strong and gusty west to southwest winds with the potential for wave overtopping" in the affected counties.

Two gale warnings will also be in place on Friday, the first of which commenced at Thursday lunchtime.
The yellow warning from Mizen Head to Loop Head to Erris Head on the west coast will remain in place until 7pm on Friday, with winds reaching gale force 8 at times.
The second yellow gale warning, covering Erris Head to Rossan Point, will begin at midday on Friday, and will also end at 7pm.
