A woman, aged in her late 30s, is in critical condition in hospital following a two-vehicle collision in Cork city on Wednesday morning.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following the collision on the N28 in Cork city.
Shortly after 10am, gardaí and emergency services were alerted to a two-car collision on the N28 at Carrs Hill, Mount Oval.
The driver of one of the cars, a woman in her late 30s, was taken by ambulance to Cork University Hospital. Her condition is understood to be critical.
The driver of the second car, a man in his 40s, was assessed at the scene and did not require immediate hospital treatment.
The scene has been technically examined, and the road has fully reopened. All traffic diversions have now been lifted.
Investigating gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward. They are also requesting road users with camera footage, including dashcam video, from the area at the time of the collision to make it available to assist with their investigation.
