A woman and two girls have died following a road traffic collision on the outskirts of Claremorris, Co Mayo.
Emergency services are currently at the scene of the incident.
According to the Western People, the incident occurred on the N17 at Castlegar near Claremorris at around 2pm.
The victims are understood to have been in a collision with a tanker truck.
The bodies retrieved from the crash are being taken to Mayo University Hospital for post-mortem examinations.
The road in both directions is currently closed and is expected to remain closed for a number of hours. Local diversions are in place.
This is the third fatal road traffic incident in the Claremorris area since the start of the year.
Local TD Alan Dillon said locals are in shock and that it was "utterly devastating".
Gardaí have appealed for any witnesses to come forward and asked for road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) to make this footage available to gardaí.
