Met Éireann have issued a yellow ice warning for the country as temperatures are set to drop overnight.
The warning comes in at five o'clock on Thursday evening until midday on Friday. The warning is for all of Connacht as well as 18 counties from Kerry to Dublin.
Thursday evening will see scattered showers, with a chance of snow on higher ground, with temperatures of three to six degrees.
Thursday night will be very cold with widespread sharp to severe frost and icy stretches. Dry and clear across most areas for a time tonight.
Showers are expected of hail and sleet, with the possibility of snow on higher ground, as temperatures could drop to minus five degrees.
On Friday, frost and ice will gradually clear tomorrow morning giving way to a mostly dry day with sunny spells mixed with some isolated wintry showers.
On Friday night, some more showers of sleet and snow will occur, mainly across the northwest and temperatures will fall even further below minus four degrees.
