The West of the country will see heavy and persistent rain as Met Éireann has extended its status yellow rain warning to include eight counties.
The advisory for Cork, Kerry, Clare, Galway, Mayo, Donegal, Sligo and Leitrim will come into effect from 10pm on Monday and run for 12 hours.
Met Éireann has warned of localised flooding and difficult travelling conditions overnight.
Rain in the west and southwest will become more widespread through the afternoon and evening on Monday, turning heavier for the Atlantic coastal areas.
Highest temperatures of 17 to 22 degrees with strengthening southerly winds.
An isolated thunderstorm is also possible overnight, with temperatures not falling below 13 to 16 degrees in fresh to strong and gusty southerly winds in the early hours of Tuesday.
Tuesday will see rain pushing gradually eastwards over Ireland with the continued chance of localised flooding.
Sunny spells and isolated showers will follow across the west during the morning, extending eastwards into the afternoon with the last of the rain clearing from the southeast by around mid-afternoon.
