A yellow wind warning is currently in place for Clare, Cork, Kerry and Limerick.
Met Éireann said westerly winds veering northwesterly will be strong and gusty at times.
They said potential impacts include loose debris, objects displacement, difficult travelling conditions and waves possibly overtopping.
The weather warning is valid from 11pm on Saturday night to 5pm on Sunday.
Sunday will be breezy or windy with scattered showers and occasional bright periods. Some of the showers will be heavy and there is a chance of hail and thunder.
Highest temperatures of 6 to 10 degrees with a fresh to strong and gusty westerly wind, very strong in the southwest.
Most areas will be dry and bright on Monday morning, but there will be some showers in Ulster, and it will be cloudy with patchy light rain or drizzle near the south coast.
Rain will spread across the country from the southwest during the afternoon and evening.
Light to moderate south to southwest winds at first, becoming easterly and increasing moderate to fresh.
Fresh to strong westerly winds will develop in the south and southwest in the evening. Afternoon temperatures of 4 to 9 degrees.
Rain will move northeastwards across the country during the morning and afternoon on Tuesday, followed from the southwest by scattered showers. Highs of 7 to 10 degrees in a freshening southwest breeze.
A mix of cloud and some sunny spells then for Wednesday but some showers will move into western and northern counties during the morning and afternoon. Staying mostly dry across Leinster and east Munster with highest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees in a moderate westerly breeze.
