The youth unemployment rate (those aged 15-24 years) was up to 12.8 per cent in November 2023, according to the Central Statistics Office (CSO).
Overall, the monthly unemployment rate was unchanged from October, where it was also 4.8 per cent.
The rate was also unchanged at 4.9 per cent for males from the revised rate in October 2023, and up from a revised rate of 4.2 per cent in November 2022.
It was up to 4.6 per cent for females in November 2023 from a rate of 4.5 per cent in October 2023, and down from a revised rate of 4.7 per cent in November 2022.
Compared to October, the youth unemployment rate increased from 12.6 per cent to 12.8 per cent.
Commenting on Wednesday's release, Conor Delves, statistician in the Labour Market Analysis Section, said: “The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for November 2023 (for all persons aged 15-74 years) was 4.8 per cent, the same recorded in October 2023 and up from 4.5 per cent in November 2022.
"In November 2023, the unemployment rate for males was 4.9 per cent, and for females it was 4.6 per cent.
"The seasonally adjusted number of people unemployed was 132,700 in November 2023, compared with 131,800 in October 2023. There was an increase of 12,600 in the seasonally adjusted number of people unemployed in November 2023 when compared with a year earlier.
"The seasonally adjusted number of males unemployed rose to 72,300 in November 2023, compared with 72,200 in October 2023. The seasonally adjusted number of females unemployed increased by 800 people over the month to November 2023 from 59,600 to 60,400.”
