Richard Bruton has gone viral on social media for the second time in 2020 with a new tutorial on baking scones.
The Chairman of the Fine Gael Parliamentary Party previously found social media fame after a video of him preparing for a swim in a promotional tourism video caused an online stir due to a shot of his “toned” abs.
Today saw the official Twitter account of Fine Gael post “wholesome content” of the Dublin Bay North TD sharing his recipe for scones, which also trended on the platform.

According to its caption, the video was posted as part of series from the party focusing on how the nation can deal with current Level 5 restrictions to curb the spread of Covid-19.
“Of course this is the best part, enjoying your baking with a good book and a cup of tea,” Mr Bruton said at the end of the video.
“I find baking really good to ease any stress during this testing time. And if you’re having trouble be sure to reach out to people if you’re stressed,” he added.
The video came ahead of Fine Gael leader Leo Varadkar’s statement in the Dáil concerning his controversial sharing of a confidential document concerning a GP pay deal with a doctor’s group.
Ahead of the statement, Social Democrats TD Gary Gannon tweeted: “On this day, not even the thoughts of Richard Bruton’s abs shall distract us.”

Ahead of Mr Varadkar’s statement, Mr Bruton insisted the then-Taoiseach had acted in the public interest in his sharing of the document.
“There is no you know major error of judgement here, there is no attempt to gain benefit. This was being done out of the public interest,” Mr Bruton said.
