The event was delayed from April, and took place in Los Angeles instead of Las Vegas. Many recent awards shows have ditched the red carpet in favour of a digital set-up, and while we do love the opportunity to ogle inside celebrity homes, it was refreshing to see a show more like we’re used to.
Celebrities were out in force to perform and hand out awards, and the fashion was just as big to match…
The sparkles…
Alicia Keys seriously switched up her look, sporting a new hairstyle of thick bangs and locks down to her waist. Thanks to stylist Jason Bolden, she paired this Seventies vibe with a skintight silver sparkly catsuit.

Cher was the recipient of the Icon Award at the 2017 ceremony, and was on hand to pass on this year’s honour to Garth Brooks. In signature Cher style, she did so in high glamour and lots of sparkles, wearing platform Jimmy Choo’s and a black minidress with dangling crystals.
Nearly everything Kelly Clarkson wore had a hint of sparkle to it – and as the host of the awards, she had multiple costume changes. One of our favourite looks was this gold sparkling dress, accessorised with plenty of jewellery and mega long hair.
Actress Taraji P Henson is no stranger to bringing sex appeal to the red carpet (or her backyard, as was the case). She wore a metallic Alexandre Vauthier gown with an asymmetric design and long leg split.
The colours…
Lil Nas X has become known for his exciting and experimental style, and this isn’t the first time he’s taken inspiration from Prince’s aesthetic. He donned a Gucci suit in green and pink snakeprint, with a ruffled blouse underneath.
Billie Eilish didn’t stray far from her signature aesthetic, choosing her go-to brand Gucci for the occasion. She went down the extreme matching route in a blouse, trousers, mask and hat all in the same olive, floral-print satin material.
Never one to be particularly low-key, singer Sia performed in a billowing pink gown with a yellow bow in her hair.
The monochromes…
Proving the nearly naked trend is alive and well, Nicole Richie wore a Christian Siriano creation with a sheer skirt and black petal decoration.
Lizzo’s outfit was all about one strong message: urging Americans to go out and vote on November 3. It was a successful night for the singer, who won top song sales artist and said in her speech: “So whether it’s through music, protest, or your right to vote, use your power, use your voice and refuse to be suppressed.”
