Ensure foot and mouth jobless get dole: INOU
The Irish National Organisation of the Unemployed has called on the Government to guarantee that workers temporarily laid off because of the foot-and-mouth crisis will receive the dole immediately.
INOU General Secretary Tony Monks said many of those affected are in severe financial straits.
It is estimated that hundreds of people have been let go as a direct result of the scare, but official figures are not available.
