New baby for Damon and wife

Matt Damon’s wife Luciana Barrosa has given birth to baby girl.

Matt Damon’s wife Luciana Barrosa has given birth to baby girl.

The couple - who already have two daughters, four-year-old Isabella and two-year-old Gia, as well as Luciana's daughter Alexis, 11, from a previous marriage - have revealed they are "thrilled" to have added another girl to their brood.

Stella Zavala Damon was born on Wednesday in New York according to a representative for the couple.

The representative told People: "Mom and baby are both healthy. The whole family is thrilled."

The 40-year-old star explained earlier this week that this baby would be the couple’s last.

He said: “This is it. Our lives are full and wonderful and we're done having kids. Lucy is in her third trimester for the fourth time and I think that's about enough to ask of any woman. I don't want to turn her into Ethel Kennedy!"

Ethel Kennedy had 11 children with her husband, late American Senator Robert F. Kennedy - the younger brother of assassinated US President John F. Kennedy.

Matt also spoke about how becoming a father had helped him avoid the pitfalls of fame.

The Oscar-winning actor said: “It’s pretty easy to kind of lose your way. I think working consistently with great people is really helpful. Also having kids is really helpful. They kind of disabuse you of the notion of your greatness pretty quickly. There’s a routine that you get into with kids that precludes you from going back to your single days. I’m probably more boring than I used to be. I go to bed earlier and I get up earlier.”
