Ex-employee of Charlie Haughey's wins damages from tabloid newspaper

An ex-employee of Charlie Haughey has won damages against the 'Irish Mirror' newspaper for alleging that she had an improper relationship with the former Taoiseach.

An ex-employee of Charlie Haughey has won damages against the 'Irish Mirror' newspaper for alleging that she had an improper relationship with the former Taoiseach.

Ruth Henderson from Templeogue in Dublin worked as a groom for Mr Haughey.

An article in the 'Irish Mirror' on June 11th 1999 claimed that her relationship with the former Taoiseach was improper.

Lawyers for the newspaper apologised for the article and awarded costs and damages to Mrs Henderson.
