As its name suggests, ‘Aisling’ at Ardagh, Loreto Road, Killarney, is the stuff dreams are made of and so much more, writes .
You know that dream where you suddenly discover a new room you didn’t know existed in your house? The same sense of excitement and surprise fills me when I approach the driveway to “Aisling” at Ardagh, Loreto Road, Killarney.
Turns out it will be a feeling that will recur — just like that dream tends to do for those who experience it — as I explore the grounds and the residence itself.
You see, as children, my classmates and I hurtled past this very site every day of our primary school careers on a minibus that whisked us from doorsteps to desks. But never in my wildest imagination did I realise just what a mesmerising view lay beyond those trees.
If by some miracle of space-time continuum Daphne du Maurier had ever had the chance to visit this residence, I’m quite sure the name “Aisling” would supplant “Manderley” in literature lovers’ lexicons.
