Rapper Sean 'P Diddy' Combs was so determined to make his Broadway debut a memorable one he set up a stage at home and instructed his kids to call him by his character's name.
Diddy - who took to the New York stage under his real name to play Walter Lee in A Raisin In The Sun - has won plaudits for his theatrical debut and he insists his preparation has a lot to do with his success.
He explains: "They (his kids) liked doing my lines with me. They called me Walter Lee.
"They come wake me up in the morning and say: 'Walter Lee, eat your eggs.'"
Diddy insists he had to take the role seriously early on because it's part of his ongoing battle to prove he's much more than just a party animal.
He adds: "Two years ago, I was looking at my image and how I was portrayed as having so much fun and how my personality was a little extravagant.
"I had to take control, show people that I got to that point through hard work."
