Nurses announce further escalation of hospital stoppages

Nurses have announced plans to step up their campaign of work stoppages next week in a further escalation of their dispute with the HSE.

Nurses have announced plans to step up their campaign of work stoppages next week in a further escalation of their dispute with the HSE.

The INO and the PNA say their entire memberships will walk off the job for two hours next Wednesday morning and refuse to engage in any overtime.

They will also refuse to stay late after their shifts, which they often do out of goodwill.

The decision follows the HSE's threat to dock nurses' pay by more than 13% from today unless they abandon their industrial action.

The nurses show no sign of halting the campaign, with three-hour work stoppages due to take place today at hospitals in Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Galway.
