There are reports this morning that the British Government is planning to shelve the reform of the RUC.

As part of the Good Friday Agreement, sweeping changes were planned for the North's police service, including a new name and the recruitment of more Catholics.

But it now looks like they will be postponed indefinitely, reportedly as a result of objections from the SDLP.
