Kate O’Connor has moved up one place to 18th after three events of the heptathlon.
Her first throw of 13.79m proved to be her best in the shot put.
Meanwhile, Botswana’s Letsile Tebogo took gold in the men’s 200m.

Kenny Bednarek claimed the silver medal, with bronze going to 100m champion Noah Lyles.
According to the BBC, Lyles ran that race despite having tested positive for Covid.
Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem has already set a new Olympic record best of 92.97 in the men’s javelin final.
Still to come, after her show-stealing effort in the mixed relay, Femke Bol competes in the final of the women’s 400-metre hurdles.
Golf
Stephanie Meadow and Leona Maguire are both way off contention at the halfway point of the Women’s Golf.
Meadow is 8-over par following a 74 today, while Maguire is 13-over after shooting a 79.
Switzerland’s Morgane Metraux holds a one-shot lead on 8-under par.
