Republic of Ireland striker Adam Idah is set for 10 weeks on the sidelines after suffering a knee injury.
Idah started the friendly defeat to England and the UEFA Nations League loss against Wales last week.
However, injury ruled him out of the 0-0 draw with Bulgaria on Wednesday and his club Norwich City confirmed that the knee complaint will keep him out for 10 weeks.
The 19-year-old will hope to be back in action as soon as possible but the injury will most likely keep him out until February.
Ireland's World Cup qualifying campaign begins in March and Stephen Kenny will hope Idah is playing regularly by then.
He promoted the youngster to the senior setup after regularly using him at Under-21 level.
Ireland's run of poor form means they will be among the third seeds for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
