All-Ireland football final
Kerry footballers have claimed the Sam McGuire Cup for the first time since 2014 with victory over Galway.
The All-Ireland Senior Football Final was point-for-point for much of the game, with Galway holding a slim advantage by half-time at Croke Park.
However, lifelines from David Clifford along with a surge in the last 10 minutes took Jack O'Connor's men clear of Galway before the final whistle.
Galway's talismanic forward Shane Walsh kicked the first score of the game from a free to settle the Tribesmen in with four minutes gone. Minutes later, an attempt by Galway’s Johnny Heaney was brilliantly blocked by Stephen O’Brien, with the ball deflected over for a point.
It was eight minutes gone when David Clifford got Kerry ticking with a point. The Kingdom looked out-of-sorts to begin with, with some bad wides, while Galway looked dangerous, opting for a quick ball inside on every occasion.
The score of the game in the first half came from Walsh – who curled it over the bar – but with 20 minutes gone, the Kingdom started to find their rhythm with points from Paul Geaney, Clifford and Stephen O’Brien.

Walsh was immense for Galway, kicking five points in the first half, while equally Clifford was a constant threat for Kerry, kicking four points in the same period.
By half-time the score stood in Galway's favour, with the side leading with eight points just ahead of Kerry's seven.
However, Clifford put the Kingdom in front for the first time in the 41st minute, and Kerry were out in front by two points with 10 minutes left to play in the second half.
While the scores were level again within five minutes, the Kingdom pulled ahead once more on a scoreline of 18 points to Galway's 16 before another five minutes of additional time.
By the final whistle, Kerry had widened that lead by two more points to claim the title. Clifford provided a total of eight points for the Kingdom, while Walsh scored nine points for the Tribesmen.
Golf
Former British Open champion Darren Clarke has won the Senior Open at Gleneagles.
The 2011 winner shot a birdie on the 72nd hole to give a final round of 69 and secure the victory on 10-under-par.
The Northern Irishman is just the fourth man in history to win the Open Championship and its senior equivalent.
Six birdies on the back nine put Padraig Harrington in contention late on. He shot a final round of 67 to move up to nine-under-par and finish in second place.
Paul McGinley finished the day with a round of 74 to end on five-over-par.

Athletics
Brendan Boyce finished 25th in the final of the 35-kilometre walk at the World Athletics Championships.
He crossed the line in a time of two hours, 33.32 seconds in Oregon.
In the early hours of tomorrow morning, Sarah Lavin bids for a place in the final of the 100-metre hurdles.
F1
Red Bull's Max Verstappen has won the French Grand Prix.
The world champion crossed the line just in front of Lewis Hamilton, who finished second in his 300th Formula One race.
Hamilton's Mercedes teammate George Russell was third.
Ferrari's Charles Leclerc, who started on pole, crashed while leading at around a third of the way into the race.

Tour de France
Denmark's Jonas Vingegaard has won cycling's Tour de France for the first time.
The overall leader crossed the line safely at the end of the final processional stage in Paris.
Vingegaard finished with an advantage of more than three-and-a-half minutes over defending champion Tadej Pogacar.
Britain's Geraint Thomas is third in the general classification.
