Hurling

Waterford 1-30 Galway 3-20

A sensational first half of hurling from Waterford laid the foundation for their progress to the All-Ireland quarter-final.

Last year's beaten finalists won by 1-30 to 3-20 – having hurled the entire second-half with 14 men.

Conor Gleeson was shown a straight red-card just after the interval.

Joe Canning scored nine-points for Galway to become the top scorer in Hurling Championship history.

Cork 3-19 Clare 1-23

An additional time save secured Cork’s place in next weekend’s All-Ireland quarter-finals.

Leading 2-9 to 0-11 at half-time, Cork’s advantage over Clare was cut to two on three occasions in the third quarter at the end of which they were 2-14 to 0-18 ahead.

With 10 minutes remaining the sides were level – the crucial score came with five minutes only left on the clock.

Cork finished with 13 men after Jack O’Connor and Niall O'Leary were both sent to the sidelines.

Christy Ring Cup

Derry and Offaly will contest next weekend's Christy Ring Cup final.

Division Two League champions Offaly were 6-30 to 11 points winners against Wicklow in Tullamore.

While Derry overcame Sligo by 28 points to 2-17 in the other semi-final.

Camogie

Kilkenny have made it two wins from two in the All-Ireland Camogie Championship.

Katie Nolan and Miriam Walsh scored second-half goals as they beat Westmeath by 2-17 to 1-11.

Wexford enjoyed a 4-10 to 15-point win over Offaly at Wexford Park.

Ladies football

Katie Murray hit 2-3 as Waterford booked their place in the TG4 All-Ireland Ladies Football quarter-finals with a convincing victory at St Loman’s Mullingar. 

They will now meet Cork in the quarter-finals of the competition next weekend after they pulled away just before the interval. 

 

Meanwhile, Aimee Mackin led the way with a haul of 3-6 as Armagh set up a quarter-final date with Meath after an impressive Group 1 victory at Ballinamore. 

Mayo, who had already qualified for the knockout stages, will face neighbours Galway in the quarter-finals next weekend.
