Norwich manager Daniel Farke has revealed that he had some strong words for the 19-year-old in training leading up to the match.
Farke told the club's YouTube channel that Idah was on the end of a scolding from his manager and teammate Michael McGovern.
"Adam will be a bit in the spotlight and I'm delighted for him. I'm allowed to tell you a secret, I had a proper outburst with Adam Idah during this week because I didn't have the feeling he was focused on us.
"It was of course difficult after he was in the spotlight because he had his debut for Ireland and during the training I had a proper outburst with him and asked him for more concentration and more discipline.
"And after the training, I spoke with Michael McGovern because as an experienced player, he always has influence on the young lads and also after the game he said, 'Listen, coach, I spoke with Adam and spoke with him that he has to pay back your trust that you still choose him today although he wasn't great in training this week'.
"He had to pay back and he did, so big, big compliments, especially to the fringe players."
Idah's goal came after new Ireland boss Stephen Kenny gave him his first two senior games in the UEFA Nations League clashes with Bulgaria and Finland.
The Cork native showed flashes of his talent but he was often isolated up front as Ireland struggled to a draw and a defeat.
It was his Finnish teammate Teemu Pukki who assisted Idah's goal on Saturday.
