Republic of Ireland Women lost 3-2 to Iceland in Reykjavik in the first of two back-to-back friendly internationals.
Iceland were in full control at the break after Agla Albertsdottir, Gunnhildur Johannsdottir and Dagny Brynjarsdottir struck first-half goals to put them 3-0 up in front of 1,500 spectators at the national stadium.

Heather Payne pulled one back for the Republic early in the second period when converting Katie McCabe’s cross from close range and Amber Barrett reduced the deficit further in stoppage time.
The two teams meet again at the same venue on Tuesday as their preparations for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifiers continue.
